Navarre Eclipse

By: Juan Carlos Casado
During the lunar eclipse of 1990 February 9, the totally eclipsed Moon rises above the small medieval village of Ujué in northern Spain province of Navarre. As noted by the photographer "Ujué, which derives from the Basque word usoa (means “the dove”) was an important defense medieval enclave. The fortress-church of Santa Maria (XII-XIV centuries) culminates the highest zone of the village (pictured) and is where lies the heart of King Carlos II (Evreux family), who built this Gothic building."
