SE PUEDE CONFUNDIR CONLa Boletus appendiculatus que sin embargo no tiene la banda roja alrededor del pie y que además se distingue por el color más oscuro del sombrero. En la reproducción se nota al pequeñísimo reticulado amarillo del pie.
